About this artwork
Of all the mysteries of science, one of the greatest takes places within our bodies each day. How does an eye cell know to be an eye cell, and not bone? This is morphogenesis, or the way form comes into being; this is a subject explored by Christopher Kenworthy in fiction and art for over thirty years. In this piece he shows how a simple molecular swirl, apparently random, can rapidly adhere to morphogenesis and the first hints of inherent structure.
