A change in behaviour, however small, can activate a chain reaction with enormous consequences, causing shifts in related neighbouring behaviours and producing far-reaching ripples. The continuous swinging motion of the pendulum is created by acquired momentum and the action of gravity: delayed and immediate interactions are evidenced simultaneously.

If the pivot spot is connected and the weight and rod experience no resistance as they travel, the swinging of the pendulum continues.
