Pleiades is an image constructed with 3D software, built like a gigantic stage where large cargo ships are dwarfed by monumental cliffs or tears, as if the sky, or the image surface itself, had been ripped. It draws inspiration from the pictorial tradition of the Sublime landscape – Frederic Edwin Church’s icebergs or Edward Burtynsky’s industrial apocalypse amongst others. The name - the seven sisters of a Titan and an Oceanid - evokes a mythological scale.
